HOW DOES A MINI SESSION WORK? A mini portrait session differs from a main session mainly because of the time that is spent photographing you, so although there will be no time for outfit changes, you will get the chance to have a gorgeous family portrait and some pictures of the kids too! Mini portrait sessions are different to a bespoke photo session as these are at set locations, on set dates with set time slots. WHAT TO WEAR? Since my work is more about feelings and less about style, I advise my clients to keep it simple and clean. I like the focus to be on the emotion and connection of the family. Subdued colours, solids, and muted prints work well for that. Skip logos and words as they draw the eye. I’ve found that muted tones look beautiful together in a family picture. When picking patterns, choose smaller ones that won’t pull attention away from the main subjects, and only put one person in a pattern. When thinking about texture, choose different ones that will give photos some interest such as lace, corduroy, denim, and knits. Choose three or four colours to create a colour palette , and then incorporate the colours throughout your wardrobe in varying patterns, solids, and layers. Accessories give photographs that needed punch! They lend pops of colour, personality, and interest. Everybody wears them well and they work for all ages. My work is based on movement and playful behaviour, so I always tell my clients to think about being comfortable first. Pick the clothes that will let you run freely and be blissfully carefree! LOCATION I am shooting outdoors using natural light. There are different factors that dictate how long a photography session can last but in general, mini sessions last up to 45min.
